Quiz Answers a-go-go

Well, finals week=creative procrastination. So, here I am, posting the (long awaited?) answers to my lame quiz, which hopefully provided some people with 5 minutes of entertainment. Or wasted 5 minutes of their lives. Whatever.

1. I have two brothers. Their names are:
a) Jack and Bobby
b) Alex and Devin
c) Andrew and Jack<--80% answered correctly
d) Andrew and Alex

2. Which of the following websites do I NOT regularly frequent?
a) adam.nirv.net (read this if you dare)
b) spamusement.com (a favorite)
c) lileks.com (this man is a genius)
d) homestarrunner.com<--50% answered correctly. I've seen this site. Jack loves it. Lots of people do. I can't say I'm particularly facinated.
e) pathetic.org (mmm...poetry)

3. "Apparently!" and "They're both...favorites" are phrases I picked up from my favorite comedian:
a) Brian Regan<--70% answered correctly. A tricky one, since all of the choices are favorites. But Brian Regan surpasses them all. I saw his show in October and I've never laughed so hard.
b) Lewis Black
c) Pablo Francisco
d) Nick Swarthson
4. My favorite character on Gilmore Girls is:
a) Lorelai
b) Rory
c) Kirk
d) Jess

e) The Troubador<--20% answered correctly. Tough one, since one of the most endearing things about Gilmore Girls is my deep affection for all of the characters. But the troubador (Grand Lee Phillips, in real life) is the only one to whom, when he appears on the screen, I respond with a squeal of joy. One word: "Mystique." Shame on Danielle for missing this one.

5. What, in my opinion, is the best food combination ever invented?
a) Tomato and cheese
b) Peanut butter and banana
c) Peanut butter and chocolate<--40% answered correctly. I know I've declared my love for this combo more than once--need I bring up the Reese's peanut butter cup? None of the others even come close...
d) Pizza and milk

6. What does my dad do for a living?
a) He's a fireman
b) He's a psychologist<--80% answered correctly. I hope those who knew this one knew it because I've told them or they've met him, not because of idiosyncracies they've noticed in my personality.
c) He's an orthopedic surgeon
d) He works at General Mills

7. When I was a kid, which of the following did I NOT want to be when I grew up?
a) A doctor
b) A teacher
c) A writer
d) A dancer<--40% answered correctly. I wanted to be a doctor, specifically a pediatrician, for a long time, back when nothing had kicked the crap out of my love for science (I wish I still had it, sometimes). I had big plans to be an author/poet, too, back in the "Coming of the Poems" phase in 5th and 6th grade. And my teacher ambitions have held true to this day.

8. Which of the following is the reason I love Quiz Bowl?
a) The joy of meaningless trivia
b) Mr. Quinn is my hero
c) The Quizbowlmobile and the music in it
d) John Cooney's hair
e) The odds
f) All of the above<--80% answered correctly. Come on guys, this one is a gimme. My love of Quiz Bowl is a multi-faceted love, influenced by a variety of aspects, only some of which are mentioned in the choices above. God, I miss it.

9. What song MUST I listen to on a rainy day?
a) "It's raining men"
b) "Singin' in the rain"
c) "Everything in it's right place"<--20% answered correctly. OK, this one is a little obscure. But if you're ever driving or looking out the window in the rain, turn on some Radiohead and you will understand completely. Sigur Ros is also acceptable.
d) "Clocks"

10. If there's one word that I overuse, it's:
a) awesome
b) fuck
c) lame<--30% answered correctly. Alright. We've had some backlash on this one. I, the great lover of words and one who has campaigned tirelessly for not ruining their strength by overuse, has been accused of overusing words. And not just one word, but many. I get the most crap (usually from David) for overusing lame. But it has been called to my attention that I also overuse awesome. And, recently, I'm approaching my limit for the word counterintuitive. Which is terrible. Anyone who wants to help me in my quest for new, satisfying, rich words to replace my tired vocabulary, you are welcome and needed. I'm looking at people like Anne and Chris and anyone else whose words I've praised.
d) super

11. True or false: If I see a penny on the ground, I have to pick it up. <--90% answered correctly. It's a compulsion, there's no rhyme or reason. I have to do it. I just have a fondness for pennies.

12. True or false: I have expressed a dream that life be like a musical. <--70% answered correctly. Sadly, it is true. Both Steve and Brady have been sympathetic, Steve has even tried to make it come true. I just think that whenever someone is feeling an emotion, expressing it in song is the only healthy way to go.

13. True or false: This semester, my favorite classes are math and science.<--10% answered correctly. Counterintuitively (damn), this one is true. I'm taking Geology and Logic to fulfill those requirements, and they are both AWESOME. Well, they at least trump American Studies and Art History, my other two classes. Way to pay attention, Danielle.

14. I have NOT recently (in the last month) watched a documentary about:
a) The history of Broadway musicals
b) Skin
c) Insect mating rituals<--20% answered correctly. Yes, another obscure one. But it at least expresses my excitement for documentary films. I actually watched two seperate ones about the first topic (one in American Studies and one on PBS). The skin one was interesting, it talked about the function, evolution and social impact of skin. The China one, sadly, I have taped and watched again lately. I've also watched ones about sharks and Jazz, but none about insects and their mating rituals. Maybe someday.
d) China's impact on the environment

15. My roommate's name is:
a) Vicky
b) Julie (Danielle's, cough, charming roommate)
c) Tori<--80% answered correctly. Her soap-opera of a personal life keeps me entertained, but she's the sweetest girl you'll ever meet and the perfect roommate, I have to say.
d) Karli (close, she's my bathroommate)

BONUS: What is my roommate's current boyfriend's name?
a) Chris
b) Prem (icky boy who lives on our floor. Kris, it's not even funny)
c) Preston<--50% answered correctly. And how I wish it were no longer true. I spoke too soon when I discovered they had decided to break up, as he was definitely in her bed when I came home last night. Affectionately(?) referred to around here as Douche McDoucheDouche, their relationship has encountered quite the backlash. But I can't say I mind too much, as long as they keep their pillow talk out of my room.
d) Jesse (close, her ex-fiancee)

So, in conclusion, I was bored. Good job to everybody who took the quiz. I'm not throwing any questions out, because at least two people answered each question correctly. Now go to Cassie's blog and take her quiz (cassierae3.blogspot.com)
