mittens

It got cold again! Why does Minnesota always do that? It waits until you leave your jacket at home and then turns down the temperature. I wish I had some mittens.

Yesterday it was cold and I had some time before class so I sat on the floor of the wide, harsh hallway under Wilson Library, drank hot chocolate and listened to the man with the beret who plays his guitar down there. It was lovely. Then I fed coins to the copy machine in the library for a half hour.

The linguistics project is basically done, which nice. If anyone wants to know about the "northern cities vowel shift" I can't explain it well but I can draw a lovely diagram. We meet AGAIN tomorrow to rehearse (rehearse what, I wonder? We're supposed to read our report and point vaguely at our poster) and we present Friday.

Research paper #1 (textual analysis) is coming along. I typed until my fingers bled tonight, I plan to reorganize it tomorrow before class when we're having peer review groups. Hopefully that goes well and I can get a fantastic paper together by next Thursday, when it's due. This weekend: research paper #2 (Shakespeare). My professor said she'd look over a draft, so I figure I should get that to her by Sunday or Monday.

Monday night was "sit around on our floor, eat ice cream and listen to everyone coo about their significant other" night with Tori, Karli and Krisco. Last night I went over to AKPsi to watch some Gilmore Girls with Danielle. Never underestimate the power of Gilmore Girls, Danielle, chatting with Brian Fredrickson and the discovery of chili flavored ramen to brighten up a Tuesday. Ah. Tonight, after Tori gets back from coffee with Nisha, will be another ice cream/O.C. night, which we haven't done since last Wednesday, I think. As Jenna says, we'll never get through the whole season at this rate.

Today's countdown:
9 days until I'm done
5 days until Melanie comes back from Spain
3 days until we go watch Lindsey in Ballyhoo (read Monday's Dr. Date in the MNdaily)
17 days until New York
80 days until "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"
and, in true Jenna form,
94 days until my birthday
