Has anyone seen my voice?

Yes, I'm sick. This was an especially attractive quality on Thursday night, when Melanie and Tori were going out to Spin and had everyone meet at our house. There they are, looking all cute in their leather pants and sparkly shirts and I'm in my sweats and a bandana carrying around a wad of Kleenex. Not to mention the crowd of people coming over to witness this, including Aaron who wouldn't accept my illness as a good excuse to stay home. He insists he'll drag me out the next time they go.

I had arranged that a girl who was interested in subleasing my room while I'm in Spain next semester come over and see our house, and of course, she had to come during the chaos. Hopefully she didn't get a bad impression of our house from all that, but she seemed like she liked the house. She was quiet and nice, and if she can get out of her contract at the dorms, I say she's welcome to have my room (provided Tori and Melanie are OK with it).

I spent the weekend at home trying to bounce back from my cold. Still had to go to physical therapy though, and Tulsie really didn't have the least bit of sympathy for my weakened condition. Instead, he asked me if I could please quit breathing when he's standing near me.

We had an "Arrested Development" marathon Friday night, which is definitely one of those shows that I don't spend enough of my time talking up. So I will now. "Arrested Development" is awesome. You should watch it. It makes me giggle.

Of course, Saturday morning Andrew and I still had to get up at the ass crack of dawn to go work at the Metrodome. Of course, as we were reminded, it wasn't just any game. It was the Wisconsin/Minnesota game. OH GOD. No. I'm sorry. I just really hate football. At least at Rachael's school it's an occasion to see a cob of corn dance around. But two land dwelling animals, the badger and the gopher duking it out? Not really on the top of my entertainment list.

Not to mention I was still sick and sounded like a heavy smoker. I got to tear tickets this time, despite the fact that Andrew and I arrived rather late (much to the disgust of "bald authority figure man" at the door, who not only noticed our "habitual lateness" (we were late our first day because the lady told us the wrong time) but my brown and not black shoes. Andrew and I made fun of him all the way down the stairs, only to see him appear out of nowhere from a door just ahead of us).

The game actually went pretty well. Busy, so I'm sure I've got carpal tunnel or line hypnosis or whatever it is that ticket rippers have as an occupational injury, but no fights broke out or anything. Mom and Dad came to my door, I ripped their tickets and gave them their complimentary Gopher pins (which I only ended up offering to the Gopher fans after a few too many WI people gave me dirty looks). Melanie and Tori said they saw me, but didn't come say hi.

We actually had a pretty good supervisor this time, Al. Al turned out to be much more pleasant than Carl or Willie or whatever, the giant black man with an attitude who supervised us the last 2 times we've worked. Of course, I did have to supress a giggle when he kept coming over to talk to me while I was waiting for the doors to open. I was reading a book, and Al came over to tell me that he didn't used to read much, but then his wife got him hooked on the romance novels she buys at Target, and how his reading skills have much improved. Oh, Al.

Saturday night was spent putting together stacks of study abroad forms, most of which involved filling in boxes with miniscule letters and making photocopies of documents. And freaking out because let's face it, I'm not that organized and I can't screw this stuff up.

Sunday was spent lounging, mostly. A last attempt to kick this cold, which has still stolen my voice. Maybe not having a voice will get me out of some lame Spanish activities tomorrow morning. So now, to bed.
