A SNAP-py new post
Yes, yes, I deserve to be stoned. Karli made me put "update my blog" on my to-do list on Friday. Among other things on that list, that didn't happen. But I'm updating now with the intention of updating without having to be reminded.
This weekend was exceptionally good, I think, especially after a really busy week (though next week I'm sure it will seem like a breeze). Friday night was dubbed "Sangria Night," because Melanie's study abroad experience in Spain finally paid off when she cooked for us. Karli was gone this weekend, but she probably would have laughed to see the three of us flying around the kitchen, cooking up tortilla espanola and a whole mess of other stuff. Unfortunately, we couldn't convince many other people to come on such short notice, though Lindsey did stop by for a bit. I'd forgotten how much I miss that girl--she cracks me up. Of course, the lack of guests didn't stop us from having a good time. Tori and I even attempted to make flan, which didn't turn out too bad. Next time we try it will be delicious, I'm sure of it.
Oh, here's this weeks weird story: after an encounter between my grandma and Elizabeth Stahlmann's mom at church last Sunday, plus some further investigation on my part, I am proud to announce, unbeknownst to us in all the years we've known each other, that Elizabeth and I are fourth cousins!
On Saturday, Tori and I headed over to the hospital to visit Krisco, whose seizures have been pretty bad lately and they're keeping him in the hospital until they're under control. We ran into Chris on the way, who was also going to see Krisco with Courtney, so we all hiked over there together. Poor Kris; the hospital life is really not so glamorous. We'd hoped they'd let him leave for a bit so he could come with us to see "Madagascar" at Coffman, but no go. We gave him a wheelchair ride around the block, then Tori and I went ourselves. Not exactly the best movie I've ever seen, but hey, a free movie is a free movie.
After the movie, Tori and I headed downstairs to visit Melanie at her SNAP! booth (sorry Mel, I still can't remember what SNAP stands for) where they were handing out "mocktails." Tori and I both had the "Safe Sex on the Beach," which was delicious, and made a list of things to do on future weekends. Then random guy came up to us and asked if we wanted to play Dominoes. Amanda decided to join us, and what ensued was a rather intense experience with the real way to play Dominoes and how to keep score with weird kid that I really never want to repeat again. However, the night ended on a good note with a walk in the nice weather back to our house and some O.C.
The End
