Study Abroad
Day 49
March 7th, 2006
8:59PM

Well, the results are in. My midterm scores were pretty satisfactory, so I’m happy:

Theology: B+
Linguistics: Perfect score!
Culture: Perfect score!
Lit: A-
Women’s Lit: A-
Art History: A-

After lunch today I went to Japanese class. The three Japanese students here (Mariko, Midori and Yashushi) have graciously volunteered to teach the rest of us some Japanese. Today I learned how to count to 100, how to introduce myself and tell someone how old I am.

Observe:

Hajimemasite (Nice to meet you)
Watashin namae wa Emilydesu (My name is Emily)
Watasiwa jukyussai desu (I am 19 years old)
Amerika kara kimasita (I am from America)

So that was fun. Yashushi also played a Japanese song for us on his guitar which was really pretty and I can’t find it on iTunes or anything. They claimed it was really famous, though.

Danielle’s mom and brother are here this week, which is really fun. Last night we all went out to dinner in Toledo, which was a nice break from Fundacion food.

I can't hardly believe you got such good midterm grades with 18 credits and all the distractions - you rock!

Even we non-parents are amazed - but for different reasons. We can only imagine the challenges that killer Cheetos and chocolate churros place on the learning capacity of the human brain.

As it happens, I've given up crack cheetos for Lent, and I really only had churros y chocolate that one time.
