Scrubbing, taco pizza and waterlogged shoes
A quick update tonight, as it is past my bedtime.
I am now officially assigned to scrub Bank 300, at least for the time being. They're in the process of hiring some new employees, and I guess I'm it in the meantime. It's gotten a lot less scary and the people that sit around me at my new desk are really nice and help me out. I've learned, however, that Tuesday is a good day to come in early, since there were 94 exceptions waiting for me today at 7:15.
The rest of my day was spent working on The Spreadsheet, which has gotten more complicated since I am now in charge of rifling through company update e-mails for account information to add or delete or modify, and I started putting dates in spreadsheet #2 for July today (though we're not done with June yet). Ahh. Tracy (the boss) did mention that she wished I weren't a student because she'd "just hire me." I mentioned my availability on Fridays in the fall and she said "I think I'm open to anything at this point," which conveyed more desperation than actual enthusiasm.
To answer to the comments on the previous post:
1. I could say no to these jobs they're giving me, but then I'd just end up doing mailings all day. Fun, but would get old.
2. The ARP department is overwhelmingly women, true, but there are a few men wandering around. I think there are a couple in customer service, at least one in fraud, one of the temps is male and then there's Chintan, who is the only male who sits by my new desk and is kind of in charge of making sure I don't screw up at scrubbing. He is Indian, has to spell his name to customers over the phone a thousand times a day and alternates between having an Apu-esque Indian accent and sounding like an old black woman who ends every sentence with "Sugah." Very odd.
3. Rachael, I thought you were dead. Please update your blog, even if it's just to say you're alive.
4. I refuse to update you on my food choices anymore. I have been informed by many people, as well as the composer of a competing blog, that this is uncool and must end.
On a non-work note, last night I had a nice dinner at Pizza Luce with Steve, who I haven't seen in a long time, and Danielle, who I really saw just last week but it seems longer because I don't wake up in the same room with her every morning anymore. The pizza was delicious, as was the company (hmmm, I guess I just broke that food pact, didn't I?) Of course that dinner was preceeded by my getting caught in a downpour on my walk home from the rec, after which two people I know had to see me walking home, soaked and barefoot, carrying my waterlogged shoes.
I just finished my first knitting project--a scarf. Megan taught my how last Thursday and I am quite pleased with myself for mastering it and quite pleased with Megan for not throttling me after I stared at her with a blank expression for most of her lesson. Too bad it's too hot for a scarf.
1 Comments:
Maybe when I get back we can all go out to Pizza Luce.
