Comida Cubana and Squeaky-clean floors

Warning: The following account of my weekend will not include accounts of crazy Halloween parties or me waking up in a dumpster. There is no need to whisper to each other or call me names; I already know I am lame.

I came home after work on Friday with the desire to shower and not move for about an hour. But Melanie came home with an even better idea--let's cook something! So I suggested we cook something Latin American, not just for the delicious factor but because I can get credit for Spanish. So it was really homework. We hauled out the Cuban cookbook and landed on "Moros y Cristianos." I had been oddly craving it since the dish was featured in a documentary on Latin music (hosted by Harry Belafonte and featuring a little too much of Gloria Estefan to be taken seriously). We added "Patatas Bravas" to the menu and we were off. Between the three of us the two dishes took almost no time to make and oh, God were they delicious. Megan was so mad at us when she got home from Duluth that night; how DARE we make Cuban food without her?!? Megan, I apologize from the bottom of my heart.

Saturday meant that our long-standing but vague intention of doing some fall cleaning was fulfilled. We cleaned, damnit. We moved couches, scrubbed floors, bought (and used!) one of those Swiffer duster things, put away the big summer fans, swept the scary basement, vacuumed (and raked) the porch and, most exciting of all, opened up and vacuumed the vents in the living room which were caked with at least 5 years of dust and crap. But we found 36 cents, so we basically scored.

Man, I thought I had an exciting weekend - but - BOY! was I mistaken after reading your account! Especially the CLEANING part! Why, or why didn't you invite me over to partake in the merriment? I am hurt, grieviously wounded. But your mom and I saw "Catch A Fire," which was quite good. So take THAT. And be home for LOST on Wednesday.

Yeah! I was so inspired by Rachael's new layout that I decided to be a copycat. Do you like it?

You are lame. Only because you don't answer your phone. I was in your neighborhood Saturday and wanted to show of my Flavor Flav costume.
