Summer Classes, Part Deux

Aqui estoy mid-summer, and I've got three brand new classes to work on. I was only going to do two more, but I added another elective that will give me Master's credit, and it's actually pretty awesome. It meets every day for two weeks, and the topic is censorship in education. We have some reading to do, and a couple of assignments, but the class is mostly discussion. There are only 8 of us--five people from my English Ed. cohort, and a few practicing teachers (one from Cooper, another who's leaving Wayzata H.S.). I like the professor, too, which is nice because I'm taking her Literature for Adolescents class in the fall.

My M-Th morning class (Learning, Cognition and Assessment), however, is pretty much going to be a nightmare. Both in terms of work, and the professor, who a guy in my cohort described as "fucking nuts." She actually claimed that she would be reprimanded by the University if she did not teach for 115 minutes straight, so our two-hour class does not have a bathroom break. And we are not allowed to get up on our own to go, because the sound of the door opening is too distracting. I'll keep you posted, but it should be an interesting month.

I also have a Friday morning class called Human Relations, but I haven't been there yet and I have no idea what that means, so again, I'll keep you posted.

All in all, I am tired, but halfway done with summer classes. Woo.

Good work. One day at a time, and all that. There will be nightmarish teachers, unfortunately. But the no bathroom break philosophy sounds a tad extreme to me. You could always fake a seizure and wet yourself...

Cohort: n, partner in activity; Antonyms - enemy, opponent

Orchestrate some magic, push her buttons, and do future generations a huge favor. A class within a class, maybe. You could call it "Spurning, Decognition, and Ass-cementation 101".
